How many Lake City Public School District students took their MCA and MTAS Reading tests in 2021-22 school year?

Lake City Public School District ranked first in the Wabasha County for test participation, with 647 students taking the Reading portion of the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment and the Minnesota Test of Academic Skills in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Minnesota Department of Education.

The number of Lake City Public School District students taking the tests in the 2021-22 school year rose by 7.5% over the previous year.

Lake City Public School District's students achieved an average Reading proficiency rate of 48% in 2021-22 school year.

Fifth grade students stood out with 17% of them exceeding standards in Reading, which was the highest recorded proficiency at the district.

On the other hand, third grade students had the most room for improvement, with 46% not meeting the expected standards.

Lake City Public School District encompasses schools within Wabasha County and has a main office in Lake City.

Minnesota students take the MCA annually (or the MTAS, for students with cognitive disabilities) to determine their academic readiness. Not every grade is tested each year.

Analysis from the Nation’s Report Card showed Math and Reading scores have fallen significantly in the last decade. Science scores have been steady in recent years.

Minnesota Department of Education issues could lead to data irregularities.
